Congratulations on another amazing and record-breaking Read-A-Thon!

On Friday, April 11th, Colfax held our annual Read-A-Thon Results Assembly! Before the kids received their awards and got to spray Mr. Gorton and Ms. Stephens with Super Soakers, we were very lucky to welcome Representative Luz Rivas to our school!

The Congresswoman revealed she had donated books to our library from the Library of Congress and kicked off our assembly off with inspirational remarks about her own path to success and her love of reading and math! Then it was time to announce the Read-A-Thon Prize Results!

In just three weeks you all RAISED OVER $24,134 DOLLARS for our school and read more than ever before with an astounding 404,858 minutes - beating last year by nearly 32,000 minutes - for a NEW SCHOOL RECORD!

And the winners were:

The TOP CLASSES PER GRADE. EVERY CLASS who read the most minutes in their grade will get to celebrate with a TREAT PARTY after Spring break:

TK – Mrs. Lewis - 185 minutes per student

Kinder – Ms. Haim – 341 minutes per student

1^st Grade – Ms. Mason – 434 minutes per student

2^nd Grade – Ms. Wells – 432 minutes per student

3^rd Grade – Ms. Simon – 601 minutes per student

4^th Grade – Ms. Howe – 746 minutes per student

And the TOP READING CLASS IN THE WHOLE SCHOOL

5TH GRADE – MS. CRAVEN’s CLASS who read a whopping 1398 minutes per student! They really earned their Pizza and Treat party after Spring Break!
